South Ural Department of the Institute of History and Archaeology

One
of the main researches in the work of the South-Ural department is the study of
ethnic and cultural genesis of the nomadic peoples of Eurasia in the antiquity
and the Middle Ages. This research has several directions:
The
genesis of the culture of ancient nomads of the Southern Urals and Kazakhstan in
the 1st millennium BC.
The
field studies of burial sites of the nomadic elite of the Urals and Kazakhstan.
Migrations
of the nomadic peoples in the Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages.
Huns
and Guns in Asia.
The
Early Turks.
The
Medieval Bashkirs and Magyars of the Southern Transurals.
